Landforms Provide Evidence of Change
Continental Drift
The theory of Pangea can be taught several ways. I had my class read through the textbook, with leveled notes. We then created our own Pangeas by trying to piece together the cut out pieces of all the continents. I've also linked a YouTube video that could be used as an introduction to an extension activity.

Plate Tectonics
I found that this theory was difficult for some for some of the visual learners to grasp. An excellent demonstration to do would be to bring in a hard boiled egg, crack it and explain that each of the cracks is a plate boundary. Once students understand plates and boundaries, move onto a hands on activity where they can shift and move the plates. As shown in the picture below, we used Oreo cookies to understand the difference between diverging, converging, and translating boundaries.
I've also linked a definitions sheet below.

Mountain Building
Students were provided with a demonstration of folding using two tea towels and faulting using frozen clay. A smartboard presentation was also used which was provided to some of the students with blanked out words. I've been told that rice crispy squares also work well to show both folding and faulting.
